The Oregon Conservative Caucus (OCC) would like to express our sincere condolences to Charlie Kirk’s friends, family, close colleagues, and loved ones. We have no doubt that Charlie is with Jesus; his faith was very clear. The most difficult times, though, lie ahead for his wife and children, who must now be incredibly brave as they move forward without their husband, best friend, and father. His organization will also have to pick up the pieces and figure out how to fill a void that’s nearly impossible for them to fill.
The fact is, many of us on OCC’s Board of Directors and Advisory Board, and within our membership, did know Charlie personally. To some, he was a friend. To others, a political acquaintance. To a few, someone met in passing with a lasting impression. To all, a political ally with shared ideologies on the same side of this constant fight between good and evil.
Most of us are still in a state of shock.
Charlie was no stranger to Oregon politics. When Solomon Yue, our Co-Chair, was subjected to a bogus recall effort from his National Committeeman role instigated largely by ORP’s Don Powers and his supporters, Charlie took exception to a fellow America First patriot being targeted. He sat down and cut a video on Solomon’s behalf. Later, the written endorsement statement for Solomon caused Turning Point and Charlie to be flooded with hate mail from that same Oregon group but also, we believed, from fake accounts often generated by CCP-owned offshore digital farms. This behavior garnered a laugh and was nothing new – they saw it all the time, and worse.
Charlie stepped in again during ORP’s last National Committeewoman race because he and Turning Point leadership in general were critical of incumbent Tracy Honl’s performance within the RNC and quite taken with candidate and now-OCC member Rejeana Jackson, her Christian faith, fighting spirit, and deep conservative values.
Charlie affected political circles in every single state to one degree or another.
With a political assassination as horrific and blatant as this surely was, comes an inevitable awakening. The far left’s push for violence is factually indisputable, and their policies fly in the face of all that’s holy. Charlie’s death will doubtless inspire multitudes of conservative voices to rise. Our country has hit a tipping point, but for today, let’s celebrate a life well lived and remember his legacy.
“Well done, good and faithful servant!” Matthew 25:21
